Texas Water Development Board approves $5,392,157 to the City of Zavalla (Angelina County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (October 1, 2026) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $5,392,157 in principal forgiveness to the City of Zavalla (Angelina County) from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF). The City will use the assistance for planning, design, and construction of a water system improvements project.
With the assistance approved today, the City will replace approximately 31,000 feet of water distribution lines, four 300-gallons-per-minute service pumps, and twenty 10-gallons-per-minute submersible pumps. The City proposes drilling three test holes, constructing a new 100,000-gallon elevated storage tank, two 30,000-gallon ground storage tanks, and one 0.086-million-gallons-per-day water well. The City will also demolish its existing elevated and ground storage tanks.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
